I want to share [CHOOSE ONE:
I'm supporting this mural because I believe in the power of ART to transform people and places: to create neighborhoods where people know each others' names and work together to build community -- while sparking conversations about the future. I thought you might be excited about supporting it, too.

The ELEMENTAL street mural is a project that's been 2 years in the making. More than 150 people from 3 to 92 years old contributed to the design, and the mural will serve people who live in more than 1000 homes in the area, ranging from affordable housing and apartments to single-family homes. The neighborhood's collective efforts have created an incredible bold, colorful mural that will act as a public plaza, labyrinth, and play space for the neighborhood. It’s an amazing artistic vision -- but they need more money to make it happen.
The proposed mural surfaces -- extending in the greenbelt from behind Atria Covell Gardens senior housing to nearby Hacienda Avenue, and echoed with a mini-mural at nearby Blue Spider Park -- require more than 4000 sq ft of additional paint, additional artist time, sealer, and more printing.
Learn more about the project -- view the design sketches -- and see the faces of the people in our neighborhood -- in a super-fun short video.
We are all invited to help paint the concrete and asphalt on October 12-14, working together under a professional artist team to draw and paint a monumental paint-by-number. I can't wait. This project is super fun and amazing -- and I want to share it with you so you can join in the fun, too.

Paint the Street Davis - Senda Nueva!
On October 12-14, a neighborhood will come together for a monumental Painting Party to create a 10,000 ft2 mural that stretches along a concrete North Davis greenbelt pathway to the asphalt surface of Hacienda Avenue. Our community needs support to supersize our mural and fill a budget gap of $15,000 for more paint, labor and a protective topcoat. Please help us bring our vision of a public plaza and a vibrant residential artwalk alive.

VOLUNTEER
Organizing a street mural with a 3 day installation is a bit like organizing a wedding. You got a bunch of people coming over, and they need to be kept safe and comfortable -- with food, water, a bathroom, and a place to sit down.
We also need these people to make great art, so we'll need giant paint brushes, yogurt containers for carrying paint around, cardboard cut-outs of leaves and flowers, and giant stencils they can trace.
All this means a bit of organizing beforehand.
If you're interested and able to help out with organizing the mural, we'd love your help! You can contact the mural's Creative Action Team at: [email protected].
We will also be seeking volunteers to help clean the street, draw, paint, and clean brushes at the mural. Join our mailing list by emailing [email protected] and we'll email you with paint day information and more opportunities to get involved, as we solidify our plans in September.
For now, you can save the dates Oct 12-14 to come join us. If it rains, we'll delay until the following weekend.
